Abstrakt

Alcohol craving and factors associated with the presence of this phenomenon is still poorly understood. The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between alcohol craving and selected sociodemographic and psychological variables. 510 patients with diagnosed alcohol dependence syndrome were examined. The examined group consisted of 396 men and 114 women. The study was held in the 3rd week of their alcohol treatment. Methodology: the Penn Alcohol Craving Scale by Flannery et al., Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Intense Drinking Scale by Modell et al., Satisfaction With Life Scale – SWLS by Diener, Alcohol and Drugs Decisional Balance Scale by Velicer et al., MINI-COPE by Carver, UPPS-P Impulsive Behavior Scale by Lynam et al., The Snaith-Hamilton Pleasure Scale-SHAPS, Subscale “obsessive” from the SCL-90 Scale by Derogatis et al., SADD by Raistrick et al., Questionnaire “Relapses” by Chodkiewicz and sociodemographic questionnaire. Results: Craving was measured by two methods and it shows a positive relationship with the dimension of impulsivity – the lack of planning (premeditation), presence of obsessive-compulsive disorder and suicidal thoughts, the depth of dependence, arguments for alcohol (balance) and negative with age. The results may be useful in future studies planning and coping with craving workshops. Key words: Alcohol dependence, alcohol craving
