Abstrakt

The aim of the study was to present the Polish adaptation and validation of the Self-Presentation on Facebook Questionnaire (SPFBQ), developed by Michikyan and colleagues in 2015. The scale measures five types of self-presentation on the social networking site Facebook: Real Self, Ideal Self, False Self (deception), False Self (comparison/impressing), and False Self (seeking). A total of 531 adults participated in the study, including 422 women and 109 men aged 18 to 64. The validation of the adapted tool included the full 17-item version of the questionnaire. The internal structure of the tool was verified using confirmatory factor analysis. External validity was confirmed through correlation analysis with criterion variables. The reliability of the scales, measured by Cronbach's alpha, ranged from .72 to .83 α. The stability of the tool proved to be satisfactory. The Self-Presentation on Facebook Questionnaire in its Polish adaptation can be used for conducting quantitative research and diagnosing types of self-presentation in clinical settings, with particular caution.
